ARISE:
THE ORGANIZATION

Housed within the Graduate School of Education and Human Development at The George Washington University, ARISE is an alliance of graduate students from the consortium of universities in the Washington D.C. area. These graduate students are committed to promoting a culture of inquiry and an appreciation for interdisciplinary research. ARISE aims to promote collaboration among students, faculty, other colleagues and experienced researchers in the field. ARISE efforts are centered around six main activities:

• Organizing an Annual Graduate Research Forum and Conference with publication of proceedings.
• Disseminating the ARISE Newsletter, the MIRROR, to inform and stimulate dialogue.
• Organizing on-line discussion and debate regarding critical issues in interdisciplinary education and research.
• Creating opportunities for student publication and referral to publications in the field.
• Establishing a database of funding opportunities for research.
• Sponsoring annual recognition of outstanding examples of student research.
